Saturday Morning Forest

Mmm, a cup of Roger’s fabulous coffee and a sketchbook. Perfect Saturday morning.

Hail and Wind and Trees…

So… yesterday while we were visiting in-laws in Alabama, there was a storm. We came home at midnight to find this in our driveway. It seems in question whether or not it was a tornado, but there seems no doubt there was a lot of wind. And golf ball size hail. Our yard was the [...]

The Bees are Here!

Two new beautiful bee hives, full of honey bees! Don’t they look happy? Sourwood is in bloom, ready to go! You unpack them at dusk. For some reason we wanted straps around them in the car. I have a smoker wafting away. I also have water right in front in the windowbox. Water is a [...]

Ladybug Chair

Just relaxing outside… Sniffing the marigolds… Isn’t the tiny olive tree perfect? I’ve been wanting an olive tree since I first went to Italy. This is a Frantoio olive. It probably can’t stay outside all winter so I may have to repot it in a movable pot. I want to get one more type to [...]

Beekeeping 101!

Beekeeping is fun! I went to my very first class, taught by Don Kuchenmeister in North Georgia this Saturday. He’s also known as the FatBeeMan. He teaches organic beekeeping using various essential oils and homemade cures. Since his bees are currently thriving when other populations are failing – well, that’s as good a credential as [...]

So many Daffodils!

Ok, this doesn’t convey the full daffodil scope. This is maybe 1/3 of the daffodils left to plant. Not counting the ones I already did. All in all they covered a F250 long truck bed. All of it. Do you know how many daffodils that is? It’s a lot is all I can say. Roger’s [...]

Spring Planting has started!

My helper transplanting tomatoes and artichokes. I’ve already planted my seeds left over from last year. An entire flat of Brandywine tomatoes…mmm! I always have more Brandywines than anything else. They are the perfect tomato. I think it’s going to take a little more cleaning than that. But he’s got the right idea! Now for [...]

Beautiful Autumn!

IMG_5816Ohhh, there’s a new painting coming – I just can’t decide! I love the stained glass colors of autumn!

Edwin’s Plant

IMG_5668I was repotting plants for fall. Edwin saw this little pot and started carrying it around. I planted some thyme and stuck a rosemary green in to root. He’s been carrying it around like the greatest treasure ever!

Vegetable Garden

Guess who I found eating my tomatoes? Cute little tortoise, huh?Raven zucchini are the best – tender and flavorful if they’re small or huge.
