I know snow isn’t a big deal right now. My aunt in Maryland said it was covering her back door last week. I lived outside Boston where snow covered the ground and the slushy gray stuff was everywhere all winter. I even walked to the train station in it – yep, miles and miles and uphill both ways… perhaps a slight exaggeration.

However..

Snow in Georgia is a beautiful magical moment in time. Everything stops  and we savor the fleeting effervescence of the snow. It’s beautiful and it just doesn’t happen that often.

The animals stock up. I think they went through half a bag of sunflower seeds!

A pine warbler and downy woodpecker share the feeder. We have more types of woodpeckers here than I’ve ever seen. Probably because we don’t take down dead trees.

That evanescent glow of sunlight through the trees.
