Watercolor Sketching Treetops

Sketching winter trees

Kindof a gray overcast weekend, but my sketchbook was calling me!

I've always felt like I live in a treehouse. We live in the Appalachian foothills, in a oak-pine forest. The big tree here is a tulip poplar.

Start with a quick sketch and wash. TreesSketch2

Move in a bit more color. I threw the frisbee for my dog after this so it dried more than I planned. TreesSketch3

It was all a bit stark so I blurred it. A few dabs on this lightly sized paper is enough to soften the lines. Sketching Trees

A nice day sketching!
