Shimmering light fills an Italian vineyard in this watercolor painting. The Veneto in northern Italy is filled with beautiful vineyards and the amazing wines they produce.

The grape leaves are bright green, backlit by the hot Italian sun. Shadows almost glow in the harsh glare of reflected light. The ancient gnarled vines are carefully tended, each leaf in place.

While I painted this, I thought of a lovely lunch party with a beautiful selection of wines for each course. A group of friends, sitting around an outdoor table, relaxed and enjoying life.
