This beautiful cedar tree is rooted at the very edge of the Jekyll Island beach. Standing under its cool shade, you can see across the channel. Dolphins play in the water and birds nest in the Spanish moss dripping from the live oaks surrounding you.
Next time you go to Jekyll Island, have a picnic under the spreading live oaks, looking out over the water. It's cool and peaceful here, with deep, darks shadows. A brief change from the the bright white beach.
You'll see more wildlife than you would expect, sitting and watching these twisted branches in the sun.
The ancient cedar tree stands guardian against the tide, holding the island together with its roots.
