Sunset Clouds, Summer Evening

Right before the sun finally sinks over the horizon, the most dramatic colors appear. Like magic, golden light shimmers across the lake water.

I'm hurrying to capture everything I can in photos and notes before the storm comes. I can almost hear the rain of the brief summer storm. I can certainly see the lightning in the not so distant clouds.

Summer storms make the most beautiful paintings. All that energy and light, and the brief respite from the summer heat. We welcome summer storms here in the South.
